Unique Perspectives: All About That Time I Sensed The Truth

By Kim Stevens

After I had cancer, I entered a season of monumental change. These changes swept over every part of my existence, from my business and my health to my marriage and my personal life. As friends and family saw what was going on, they’d offer advice – books to read, podcasts to listen to, groups to join, hobbies to take up – and over and over again from several different people I’d get: “Have you read A Course in Miracles?”

I haven’t, no. Maybe I should?

I’ll never forget the moment I picked up the book and started to read it. Something came over me, wrapped me up like a warm blanket when I didn’t even realize I’d been out in the cold, shivering for so long. That feeling was how I knew what I was reading was true.

In finding such a pure example of truth, I was thrilled. Exhilarated. I don’t think I can begin to describe just how invigorated I felt. Warm blanket, meet Kim’s heart.

Every morning I’d wake up early, make a fresh cup of coffee, sit down in my favorite chair, delicate sunlight pouring through my window, and open A Course in Miracles. As I began to read, I waited patiently to get the feeling again, to be wrapped in the words this book contained. The feeling of truth, it was everything to me.

It’s why I continue to read A Course in Miracles, or any book where I can feel truth emanating from every page. I love that. I love navigating changes by getting lost in truth. In fact, it’s my very favorite way to be found.
