Unique Perspectives: So, This is What Happens When You Share ...

I truly believe in win-win. Any win for me is also a win for you. Put another way, when I honor myself, I honor everybody. When the right things happen for me, they happen for all of us. 

And the same win-win relationship applies to sharing something good, like sharing an idea, sharing love, or sharing a new teaching. In fact, to keep any kind of knowledge, I have to give it away. Because when I share what I’ve learned, the knowledge can now enrich me and you.

Win-win. 

During one of my life coaching classes, we talked about the idea of those classic “to hell and back” stories. No one wants to hear the hell part of the story … unless it includes the “and back” conclusion, which explains what I learned. Without this critical piece, it’s literally just hell. 

Joseph Campbell talks about a similarly satisfying closing-of-the-loop when he describes the Hero’s Journey, and the very last part of the Journey is coming home. The Hero, armed with the Elixir from their travels, returns ready to share it with others so they too may grow, just like the Hero did before them. 

Learning is great, wonderful, fantastic but unless you come back and share those learnings, the knowledge simply can’t grow. It’s stuck. Cemented inside your mind, it’s unable to flow free. By sharing knowledge, it bursts from these confines then expands – in my mind and in yours.

My entire reason for publishing these “Unique Perspectives” week after week offers a real-life illustration of this theory in action: Throughout every one of my posts and videos, there’s a clear arc from what I did or thought, to what I do or the way I think now. 

I used to be this way … I used to see things that way … but then I had this experience or learned this thing and now I don’t. Now, I’ve returned home from my Hero’s Journey to share what I’ve learned, the Elixir of my Unique Perspectives. And by sharing knowledge, I’m always making it bigger within me and within you.
