Unique Perspectives: When You Change the Way You Look at Things
By Kim Stevens

It might seem like magic (and really, it sort of is) but there’s a way to change your future … and your past. Wayne Dyer said it best: “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
It’s why I’m on a lifelong pursuit to accumulate and share unique perspectives with the world. I’ve seen first-hand how a new perception can completely alter what happens next, and rewrite the history of my life. Armed with a new perspective, everything is different. The world can appear so dark with one perspective and completely bright with another.
Did anything really change?
No.
But the way I look at what’s all around me shifted, and that changes everything.
There was a traumatic event in my past that was always cloaked in shadows of guilt and regret. The story was deeply upsetting, and it was a narrative I’d told myself over and over again for decades. Then, I met with a holy man who gave me a new perspective, and with it came an entirely new way of looking at the event. Suddenly, I felt lighter. Different.
Exhilarated. Free.
When I changed the way I looked at things, everything around me changed. My future changed and in a magical way, so did my past. I was – and still am – a completely different person. A discernible shift happened in me and because of it, I was able to perceive the world around me differently.
Changing the way I look at things is what I’ve had to be the most disciplined about in my journey of personal development. I don’t wildly change my actions or my lifestyle. Instead, I notice that the right actions arise from an aligned perspective. It will illuminate places once filled with gloom, and help me see the light.
