What will they say about me at my funeral?

OK, not the cheeriest opening line to start my brand-new series, Unique Perspectives, but it’s a question that can bring so much purpose to your life. How do I know? Because it brought intense purpose to mine.

As part of an exercise during a personal growth program I participated in, I asked myself this question – What will they say about me at my funeral? – and it quite literally changed the trajectory of my life.

In answering, I was forced to think about the lasting impression I wanted to make on those

around me and the legacy I wanted to leave behind so others could follow. I was immediately released from that “going through the motions” feeling, ready to carve a path to my life’s purpose with a fierce urgency I’d never felt before. It was as if my brain had been rewired, and the road my thoughts now walked – no, sprinted – across was an enlightened place leading somewhere entirely new.

Which just so happens to be the reason I started “Unique Perspectives” in the first place. This weekly series will be my own personal compilation of philosophies and ideas I’ve collected over the years, along with the non-traditional way I think about business and life. It’s part of that new path I discovered when I asked myself what my indelible mark on this world should be. Through stories told and lessons learned, I’ll explain my “Unique Perspectives” each week, meant to help you find or reframe yours.
