Unique Perspectives: A Small Shift For Major Positivity

By Kim Stevens

What if I told you there’s a little practice that has helped me become more engaged throughout my day and add small pops of positivity to whatever it is I’m doing?

Interested?

I learned about this practice from Abraham-Hicks, and it’s called “Positive Aspects” because that’s exactly what it’s about identifying.

All I have to do to bring more fun and focus is look for the positive aspects around me as I go about my day. For instance, if I’m driving somewhere and see a beautiful sky up ahead, speckled with those cumulus, cotton-candy-like clouds, I’ll say, “Oh, I really like that.”

If I’m having a conversation with someone in my office, I’ll take a moment to recognize a positive aspect about them – like how well they listen, how considerate they are, or how adept they’ve always been at finding solutions to complex problems. Then, I’ll say to myself once again, “I really like that about them.”

If I’m on a walk and come across a cool-looking tree, “I really like that!” If I’m at lunch and try a delicious new dish, “I really like that!” If I’m in the yoga studio and enjoy the routine, “I really like that.”

This practice involves actively seeking out those positive things in my life that I might otherwise gloss over or worse, ignore in the chaos of everyday living. But I find that when I stop and take a brief moment to recognize them instead, I’m reminded of the joy that can be harvested all around me, at any time I want. Suddenly, the mundane becomes miraculous, the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and it’s all because of four little words repeated over and over again throughout the day: “I really like that.”
